FAQ

What are Artisan Soaps?

Artisan Soap is handmade soap. Soap ingredients are usually food-quality, natural ingredients starting with a variety of vegetable oils such as olive, coconut, or palm, or purified tallow or lard. Fragrance oils or plant-based essential oils are typically added for scent and cosmetic-grade pigments or dyes, botanicals, herbs, spices or other natural ingredients for color.

Why choose artisan soap?

Well the answer is quite simple...For the ingredients!  Handcrafted soaps are made with nourishing oils that moisturize and protects your skin.  Commercially produced soaps are made with  low cost oils or detergents that don’t offer any skin care benefits. Commercial soap tend to cause skin irritation and drying due to the the lack of glycerin. Handmade soaps retain all the natural glycerin in the soap unlike commercial bars. Glycerin, a humectant, attracts moisture to the skin.  Commercial soaps are often drying because the natural glycerin has been removed during the manufacturing process.

How long do artisan soaps last?

One 4-ounce bar of handmade soap typically lasts an adult user 25 to 30 showers once in use. Prior to use, handmade soap has an active shelf-life of one to two years depending on the amount and type of extra (unsaponified) oils contained in the bar.

I see sodium lactate in the ingredient list. What is sodium lactate?

Sodium lactate is natural. It is the sodium salt of lactic acid and not an artificial chemical. Sodium lactate is typically used in moisturizing soap bars made with soft oils as an hardening agent for a longer lasting bar of soap.

I have allergies. Can I still use your soap?

We strongly recommend you read the product ingredient list throughly! Most of our products are vegan friendly and are suitable for sensitive skin types. When in doubt refer to your physician for recommended use. If you experience any irritation discontinue the use of the product immediately.
